States she was aged 83 b. 16 Apr 1857 to Isaac McShane and Mary Jane Long, pioneers of Tipton County, arriving here in 1870. She had six children and d. 2 Jun 1940. Bur. Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, IN. She belonged to the West Street Christian church.

Frank S. Vawter was born on April 2, 1879 on a farm three miles south of Tipton, IN. He died on May 17, 1936 at LaPorte, IN.
His obituary appears in the Tipton Daily Tribune on Monday May 18, 1936 on page 6, and states his age as 57 years. Frank died of a stroke. Many years before he had been injured in an automobile accident bringing paralysis to the back and legs which contributed to his death. He was a pharmacist and owned and operated a drug store in Tipton and was appointed postmaster in 1913 until 1922.

Homer Granville Vawter was mayor of Jeffersonville, Indiana from 1939 to 1942. He was born in Tipton County, Indiana on May 28, 1894 to the parents of Samuel M. Vawter and Sara M. (McShane) Vawter. His father was born in Stokes County, NC and his mother in Indiana; they settled in Tipton County, Indiana. His parents are buried in Tipton County at Fairview Cemetery.
Homer married Mary Lucille Vawter, who was a 4th cousin. Her parents are James Mavity Vawter and Lura J. (Sanderson) Vawter. His marriage date is unknown but according to the 1920 census they were married living alone, in Newark, New Jersey. In the 1930 census they were living in Jeffersonville, Indiana. They lived with Mary's mother. There is no evidence by the census records that they had any children.
Homer settled in Jeffersonville, where he was the Republican mayor from 1939 to 1942. Homer died on September 29, 1958 in Clark County, Indiana. He is buried with his wife and in-laws at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Mrs. Ada A. Dunn, 74, died Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. Crystal Peed after a lingering illness.
Born Feb. 12, 1876, in Tipton Ind., she was the daughter of George and Mary Simpson Vawter. Her husband was John Dunn, who died 28 years ago. She was a member of the Baptist Christian Church.
Survivors are the daughter, Mrs. Peed; two sons: George, Sheldon, Iowa; Max, Logansport, two sisters and one brother; Mrs. Cora Schoenfeldt, Mrs. Bell Jones of Frankfort; Samuel Vawter, Tipton; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Final rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Baptist-Christian Church, in charge of Reverends Virden Graham and W. G. Zinn. Burial at the local cemetery.

Circuit Court Tipton Co., IN dated Thursday 22 Dec 1887 Term of 1887 shows the petition to adopt filed by Rosalia A. Kessler for Cora E. Vawter. It states that Cora E. Vawter is the orphan child of George W. Vawter her father and his wife Mary E. Vawter that the mother died 12 Apr 1885 and the father died 18 Sep 1887. It said that Cora E. Vawter now is 6 years old having been born 28 Aug 1881 and that she has lived with Rosalia A. Kessler since the death of her mother. The court granted the petition to adopt as heir in law and changed her name to Cora E. Kessler. (Note: this is why there has been difficulty in located any records under the name Vawter)
