John Dunn was b. 25 Mar 1862 in Hamilton Co., IN and was the oldest child of George W. Dunn and Jane Mullen. Both the Mullen and Dunn families were early settlers to this part of IN. George W. acquired land of John Mullen after his marriage and this is where John and his other 14 brothers and sisters grew up. Three children did not live to adulthood, but the remaining 12 added many branches to the family tree. Most of the Dunn's lived in Hamilton and Tipton Counties of IN and have now spread throughout the United States. John died just 4 years to the day after his oldest son left for WWI and later died in France. He d. 27 Jun 1922 Royal Center, Cass, IN. He is buried in the Royal Center Cemetery with his wife Ada.
John m. (1) to Viola Noble on 23 Jan 1888 Hamilton Co., IN. Marriage records Book C-1 p. 101 Hamilton Co. states John, age 26, son of George Dunn and Jane Mullen. Viola’s parents were Augustus Noble and Mary Johnson and she lists her age as 27. A birth record is found in the index to Hamilton County births as a male child born to John Dunn and --- Noblee on 16 June 1889 Book H-3 p. 39. Information on Viola is that she died 16 May 1925 in Kankakee, IL following an operation. Information on the son is not known.

John Dunn m. (2) to Ada Ann Vawter. A marriage license was issued 12 Aug 1893 in Tipton Co., IN Book 7 p. 462. The marriage occured in Hamilton Co., IN 13 Aug 1893 by H. D. Miller, J. P. Her parents were George W. Vawter and Mary E. Simpson and the Vawter family were settlers in the same area. Most of the Vawters lived in the Tipton Co. area. Ada was born 12 Feb 1876 in Tipton Co. and d. 23 Jan 1951 in Royal Center, Cass Co., IN at the home of her only daughter, Crystal. Ada never remarried after the early loss of her husband and remained near her family for the rest of her life.

OBITUARY
John Dunn died Tuesday morning June 27th at his home age 60 years, 3 months and 2 days. He was the son of George and Jane (Mullen) Dunn and was born in Hamilton County, Indiana. He was the eldest of a family of 13 children, 10 of whom survive.
In 1893 he married to Miss Ada Vawter of Tipton County. Four children were born to this union, Archie, George, Crystal and Max. All surviving except Archie who gave his life for his country Nov. 25, 1918. Mr. Dunn died 4 years from the day his son departed for the army, his illness beginning with death of his son to France.
The brothers and sisters surviving are: David of Tipton, Andrew of Indianapolis, Charles of Reynolds, Joseph of Minnesota, Fred of Crawfordsville, Everette of Cicero, Zach and Ary of Hammond, Mrs. Clifford Barnett of Frankfort and Mrs. Charles Biship of Arcadia.
Mr. Dunn grew to manhood in Hamilton county where he became a member of the Salem M. E. Church under Rev. Strausban. He leaves a wife, 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
Thus a loved one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in our home, That never can be filled.
