Doyle John William Vawter, 71, 740 N. Main St., Tipton,
died suddenly at 5:34 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at St. Vincent Hospital, Frankfort. He was born March 4,
1930, in Kokomo, the son of Clifford Ray Vawter and Emma (Stewart) Vawter. On Dec. 15, 1951, he married Rosina Koors, who survives. He was a Standard Bred Horse
owner and trainer. His memberships included St. John's Catholic Church, American Legion, Indiana, Standard Bred Association and United States Trotting Association. He was a 1948 graduate of Prairie High School. A veteran, he served in the Army as a Korean war medic and was awarded the Bronze Star. Also surviving are two sons, James Vawter, Lafayette, and Joseph Vawter and wife Trudy, Miamisburg, Ohio; a brother, Don Vawter, Russiaville; sisters, Wilma Huse, Bradenton, Fla., Bertonna Pumphrey, Russiaville, Sharon Vawter, Debary, Fla.; four granddaughters, Alicia Duncan, Karissa Vawter, Lindsey Vawter, Chelsey Vawter; and two greatgrandsons,
Caleb and Nathaniel Duncan. Three brothers Milburn, Farrell and Neb preceded him in death.
