Reuben Grigsby was the son of Soldier John Grigsby and Elizabeth Porter Grigsby. He was born at Fruit Hill, his father's home. He attended Washington College and was commissioned a captain in the 3rd Regiment of Calvary, Virginia Militia in 1815. He married his 1st cousin Verlinda A. Porter on 26 Feb 1817 in then Orange Co., Virginia. He was a Justice and a High Sheriff for Rockbridge Co., a trustee of Ann Smith Academy, 1830 - 1845, and a treasurer of Falling Spring Church.

Abraham Piatt served in the Revolutionary War from Somerset CO. NJ and later in the 5th Batallion, Northumberland CO., Pennsylvania Militia.
After he died, the rest of the family moved to Ohio.
Abraham died without a will and the estate administration is thru the Northumberland CO. Penn. court. and was abstracted by Marti (Baldwin) Swanson:
Children named: Jacob, eldest son, Abraham, John, James, Catharine, Fanny, Elizabeth, Margaret, Jane, Eleanor and Anna.
Orphan's Court papers (1795 ?) show Jane, Eleanor, John, Anna and James as under the age of fourteen.
